Our 3rd–5th-grade GT students took their learning outdoors this week! During a hands-on geometry lesson, students explored the school grounds in search of real-world geometric shapes found in nature. From identifying angles in tree branches to spotting symmetry in leaves, the activity encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Our Warrior Way winners were Lane Fisher, Knox Greer, Matthew Shelton, Cohen Capansky, Ava Fisher, and Kottyn Greer. Way to go, guys!
Our Pre-K and Kindergarten teams have transformed their hallway with a festive “Balloons Over BHE” theme! Bright colors, creative artwork, and student-made decorations fill the space, bringing joy and excitement to our youngest learners as they walk through a hallway that feels truly magical.

In October, our high school art students enjoyed a hands-on learning experience at the Saline Courthouse Museum in Rose, Oklahoma. They explored an inspiring art exhibit by Cherokee National Treasure Louisa Soap, toured the museum with an interpretive guide, tried their hand at a traditional Chunky demonstration, and captured outdoor scenes through sketching with viewfinders. A memorable day full of creativity and cultural discovery!
Mrs. Fraley brought the tropics to the middle school Health Class! This hands-on taste test was a fun, delicious way to introduce new foods. The biggest surprise? Nearly every student walked away with a new favorite fruit!
Thank you to Beth Shrader for capturing these pictures of our 6th grade basketball teams!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our Opaa! staff, the PTO, and the High School Student Council for their outstanding help with last Tuesday’s Veterans Breakfast.
This week, I’m excited to spotlight our “Happy Plates” moment. It all began when a young student proudly held up his empty plate with a huge smile, so Mrs. Kemp started looking for other students who were just as excited about finishing their meals. It’s wonderful to see how much our kids enjoy the food we serve. Meanwhile, our “lunch buddies” spent time together enjoying a friendly game of UNO with Mrs. Katlyn.
We’re also looking forward to a bustling cafeteria this Thursday as we serve our annual Thanksgiving Feast!

Veterans Day Breakfast was AWESOME!
At Bernita Hughes Elementary, our students learn by doing! On Election Day, Mrs. Murray's class voted on their favorite cookie. They had to register to vote, get a voter identification card and then vote. They also got a sticker once they voted like adults do! After all votes were accounted for, Oreo cookies won the election!

Our HS Academic team competed in the Green Country Academic Tournament in Chelsea on Saturday and brought home 2nd place!
A special congratulations to Jaxson Bates for earning the High Points Award—answering the most questions of the entire day!
